Reverse engineering and creativity
A structure to evaluate risk:
“How will my children view this period in my life later on. What would they say about dad if he had took this risk or just had stayed with his job?”
Reverse Engineering
Become a collector of information you can compare and then make parallels on for your own best work.
For example, if I want to fundraise like a pro and make awesome pitch decks:
Read through 25 pitch decks (or any arbitrary but contextually valuable number).
Look at past fundraising strategies that went well and badly at early stages
Take notes and underscore points
Create an active mindset fueled by genuine curiosity rather than a passive one.
(1) How was this created?
(2) What can I learn from this?
(3) How can I apply this to the thing I’m working on?
An alternative definition of creativity:
Creativity: not from complete originality, but from finding connections between things.
