How I use social medias
Opinion:
Substack is a great way to consume media from people worth listening too (the essay form > tweets if I’m willing to commit to it).
Spend as little time on Instagram as possible except to post pictures that make me look good/cool. It’s a first impression, a way to keep up with a larger group of followers than snapchat, and rarely anything deeper.
Mute all non-close friends on Snapchat and post on private-story for funny moments in my day to day.
Blogger/Evernote are great ways to satisfy my need to take notes, distill information, and talk about ideas I have without the pressure of gaining a following through substack, as my ideas are still relatively juvenile.
LinkedIn is a great way to see where peers end up and to chat with interesting people in a pre-professional context. If my entertainment ever starts coinciding with LinkedIn positivity posts, that’s a signal to get more intellectual interests or revisit what I’m dedicating attention too.
Spotify has an extensive set of podcasts from some of my favorite content makers. I consume audio voraciously. Audible is also quite nice for audiobooks — usually memoirs.
