Good Morning, Midnight by Jean Rhys

Rating: 1/5
In total honesty, I only read a little more than half of the novel and it was incredibly boring.
A woman named Sasha struggles to live a normal life in Paris away from her dark and repressive anxieties. Rhys puts the reader in the perspective of a woman who, due to her mental health issues, makes bad choices for herself. She drinks a lot, wanders through the city entertaining sus people, and clearly feels lots of pain and trauma. Personally, the book was not engaging enough and felt too dark to enjoy, though obviously that's a core trait contributing to it being a classic.
